Claro Community Archaeology Group - A group of archaeological volunteers based at Knaresborough Courthouse. This group undertakes a range of surveying and excavation work in the Harrogate area.
Craven Museum & Gallery - This unique visitor attraction, based in Skipton Town Hall, tells the story of Craven through the ages. The museum offers impressive displays of social history, archaeology, costume and art.
Doncaster Archaeological & Historical Society - DAS has a core committee of dedicated archaeologists, historians and experts together with many interested and supportive members. The Society holds talks during the winter and excursions during the summer months.
East Riding Archaeological Society - ERAS is an active society of about 250 members. It aims to promote interest in archaeology, both in the local area and further afield, through lectures, excursions, publications and fieldwork.
The Fairfax Society - The Society is interested in all branches of the Fairfax family throughout the world, and collects Fairfax family trees and pedigrees.
Forest of Galtres Society - This society is concerned with the history of the market town of Easingwold and its community life with especial reference to the practice and preservation of local traditional craftsmanship. It holds lectures and excursions and undertake small projects, such as field walking, publishing and community projects.
Great Ayton Community Archaeology Project - A small group of members who undertake ‘hands-on’ research into local archaeology
Harrogate Archaeological Society - Founded originally as the YAS's Harrogate Group, this society has a programme of lectures and visits to places of interest.
Huddersfield & District Archaeological Society - The Society actively studies, explores and records the archaeology of the Huddersfield area. It holds lectures and undertakes excavation work. It also has a library and publishes occassional books and reports.
Hunter Archaeological Society - Based at Sheffield University, the Hunter Archaeological Society was founded in 1912 to study and report on the archaeology, history and architecture of South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire in recognition of the work of Joseph Hunter in researching and recording the history of the region. The Society holds talks and visits to excavations and sites of interest, as well as publishing papers in its Transactions.
Ingleborough Archaeology Group - IAG was formed to investigate and record all aspects of past human activity in the Ingleborough District and to make available the results of such work. It has a programme of lectures, excursions and practical work.
Middleham and Dales Local History Group
Northallerton & District Local History Society - The Society seeks to promote interest in local history in the old wapentake of Allertonshire. It holds lectures, collects and disseminates information about the history of the district and produces publications.
Olicana Historical Society - Based in Ilkley, Olicana holds lectures and excursions. It also has a library of books and periodicals for use by its members.
Pontefract & District Archaeological Society - The Society undertakes excavations, fieldwalking, and geophysical surveys. It also organises lectures and excursions.
Ripon Historical Society - The Society is actively concerned with all aspects of the City of Ripon and the surrounding area from Masham to South Stainley and from Skelton-on-Ure to Nidderdale (roughly the area covered by the ancient Ripon Liberty). The Society holds lectures and excursions and publishes local history books.
Saddleworth Historical Society - The Saddleworth Historical Society aims to document the history of Saddleworth, to promote an interest in the area's past, and to facilitate research relating to its history. The Society organises lectures and events and publishes books, pamphlets, maps and local interest trails.
Scarborough Archaeological & Historical Society - Scarborough Archaeological and Historical Society is among the most active and expert archaeological societies in the UK. Each autumn and winter it holds a series of lectures on archaeological, historical or architectural subjects.
Sedbergh & District Historical Society - This society exists to encourage interest in and the study of the local history of Sedbergh, Garsdale and Dent and the surrounding area.
Skipton & Craven History Society - This small society has a programme of lectures and excursions to local places of historic interest.
Upper Wharfedale Field Society - This society has an interest in many aspects of the landscape of Upper Wharfedale including: archaeology, botany, geology, local history, ornithology and vernacular buildings. It organises walks and lectures.
Wakefield Historical Society - WHS members enjoy an annual programme of lectures, seminars and visits.
Yorkshire Vernacular Buildings Study Group - The YVBSG holds training seminars on building recording, tours and field recording, and an annual day-school and conference. Over the years the group has produced reports on vernacular buildings throughout Yorkshire.
Yorkshire Architectural & York Archaeological Society - The aim of YAYAS is to advance the education of the public in the architectural, historical and archaeological heritage within the Historic County of Yorkshire and the city of York through lectures, visits, collecting historical resources, making grants and producing publications.
