Library & Archives

During 2015 the Society has transferred its library and archives from its headquarters at Claremont, to the Brotherton Library, University of Leeds.

Through this new arrangement, YAHS collections will complement the Brotherton's own outstanding historical resources. YAHS members can now apply for access and borrowing rights to all material in the Brotherton Library. A letter of introduction from the society is needed to obtain a library ticket.

YAS archives will be accessible in the university’s Special Collections early in 2016. Rare books and other YAHS printed collections are also being transferred to Special Collections. The society's own loan collection of books will be available in their new location once they are processed and catalogued, though many titles previously kept at Claremont are to be found in the main collection of the Brotherton Library, and these are immediately available.

Please check the YAHS website for updates about access to YAHS collections in the Brotherton, and for details of introductory visits to the Brotherton in the new year.

Details of when our collections will be available will be indicated on our website in due course.
