The 1968 to 1970 excavations on the Vicus at Malton,
North Yorkshire
by P. Wenham & B. Heywood (1997)

A section of the vicus of the fort at Malton was excavated
between 1968 and 1970 when several trenches were dug in the
area of the site of a new factory.
This report described the structures discovered during
these excavations and the dating evidence as revealed by
the associated finds. A discussion follows, linking the
information gained from the excavations with that from the
earlier excavations on the site, including the 1948-52
excavations in the vicus.
The finds assemblage is large and varied, ranging in date
from the 1st to the 4th century. The finds are catalogued
and discussed in some detail, and include a report on an
important group of coarse ware pottery.
