The sale of surplus books brought in more than £1,800 for society funds. A Black Friday morning rush settled into steady trade for the rest of the day and on Saturday. The thought of supporting YAS provided a great excuse to buy yet more books.
Thanks to all who worked hard to organise the sale, and to all the very generous members who supported it.
We’ve signed up YAS on a site called easyfundraising. This should be a painless way to raise much-needed cash – and at no cost to you or to the society. By using the easyfundraising site as a portal to your usual online shopping, you trigger a small donation from the retailer.
Tried and tested (by me). Please tell your friends, and feel free to share on social media. Here are the details supplied by easyfundraising:
Did you know that whenever you buy anything online – from your weekly shop to your annual holiday – you could be raising a free donation for Yorkshire Archaeological Society?
There are nearly 3,000 retailers on board ready to make a donation, including Amazon, John Lewis, Aviva, thetrainline and Sainsbury’s – it doesn’t cost you a penny extra!
It’s really simple, all you have to do is:
Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first, pick the retailer you want and start shopping.
After you’ve checked out, that retailer will make a donation to your good cause for no extra cost whatsoever!
There are no catches or hidden charges and Yorkshire Archaeological Society will be really grateful for your donations.
Thank you for your support.
So much is happening, and the blog is intended as a quick and immediate way to share news (great and small) and keep members updated on developments, at Claremont and around the society.
Next engagement: with other volunteers, helping members of Parish Register Section move book stocks from the west wing on Monday.
