Happy New Year!

Best wishes for 2018 to all our members, friends and supporters.

It promises to be a busy year for YAHS, with something to please everyone! The new website is almost ready to launch, a brilliant showcase for all YAHS activities. Particularly impressive are the section pages – the depth and range of expertise within our society is remarkable.

The site comes on stream just in time to promote our Yorkshire Dales celebration, which runs through 2018. We will also be updating with news of the Yorkshire dialect dictionary, now very much a work in progress at the Borthwick Institute. More about these major initiatives will follow very soon on social media.

We will be moving into our new office in Hunslet over the coming months. We’re also continuing the review of all YAHS publishing. All in all, 2017 has been a momentous time, and thanks to our members, a lot has been achieved. YAHS is now in great shape to face the future.

(If we have your email address, you will have received the hon. secretary’s end of year newsletter, which was circulated yesterday. Please can you let us have a current email address if you’re in any doubt that we have the correct one? It saves us a lot of time and money if you’re prepared to receive news electronically. We are not abandoning hard copies, though, if that’s your preference.)
