2026 is the 350th anniversary of the death of that ‘Proud Northern Lady’, Lady Anne Clifford (1590-1676). Towards the end of the summer the YAHS Record Series will publish a volume of Lady Anne’s letters (by her, to her, about her) edited by Professor Jessica Malay.
We will celebrate Lady Anne’s life and launch Prof. Malay’s book at a day conference at Skipton Town Hall on Saturday 31 October 2026.
The speakers, apart from Professor Malay herself, will be Professors Cordelia Beatie (Edinburgh), Lisa Hopkins (Sheffield Hallam), Richard Hoyle (Reading), Dr Anne-Maria Walsh (UCD) and Susan Wrathmell (Skipton).
