March through History

  • Posted On: 23 February 2018

Radio Leeds came to us for help with a series focusing on West Yorkshire history and archaeology. This will run from 2nd to 8th March, on their weekday Mid-Morning programme. Starts with Prehistory (broadcast, I think, from Castle Hill, Almondbury), runs through Romans and Vikings, then Medieval, Tudor-Stuart, and finally Georgian (from Harewood House).

As you can imagine, we've been able to recommend a starry list of archaeologists and historians from among our members, and suggest YAHS affiliates such as Huddersfield & District Archaeological Society. We also put them on to the Leeds Library, England's oldest surviving subscription library, this year celebrating its 250th anniversary.

So good publicity for YAHS, I hope - and they've invited me on to the airwaves this coming Monday, at about 10.15 am, to give a taster of what's to come.
