Visit to Leeds Discovery Centre 28 March

The next excursion will be to the Archaeological Store at the Leeds Discovery Centre, which is part of Leeds City Museums and Galleries.  The Discovery Centre is a state-of-the-art museum storage facility, storing and protecting over one million fascinating objects.  These range from elephant skulls to a medieval log boat, mummy bandages and meteorites.  The Centre offers a unique opportunity for hands-on exploration of the natural world, human history and ingenuity.

The Discovery Centre is in Hunslet, south of Leeds city centre, near to the Royal Armouries.  The address is Carlisle Road, Leeds, LS10 1LB.  There is a large free car park accessible from Sayner Lane, which includes disabled parking.  The Centre is a one-mile walk from Leeds train station, and is also readily accessible by bus (number 28 runs between Leeds bus station and Liberty Dock, a short walk from Leeds Discovery Centre, and number 70 runs between Leeds train station and Liberty Dock [with an additional stop on Infirmary Street]).

The YAHS visit will be at 12.00 noon on Wednesday 28th March 2018.  It will being with an introduction and talk about the collections.  This will be followed at 1.00 pm by lunch, with a tour of the store lasting around one hour following at about 1.45 pm.  The cost will be £12.  Please use this form to book by Friday 12th March.
