The lost vill of Alwoldly

  • Posted On: 20 July 2018

I've had a request from a group trying to trace information and locate a long lost vill called Alwoldley, near Briestfield and Whitley. They've had drones out and are looking at shapes revealed by recent dry weather. I've referred them to the 1980s West Yorks Archaeological Survey, which has some useful information, to the HER, and to early OS and tithe maps and work on deserted medieval settlements.
Does anyone else out there have useful information or suggestions? If so, please contact Jason: jason.batley@gmail.com.
