Since 1863

For everyone interested in Yorkshire's past

The YAHS Grants Scheme

The YAHS Grants Scheme has been established to provide financial support for projects from within the disciplines of archaeology or history concerning the study of Yorkshire's past which help further the charitable objects of the Society, that is:

The examination, preservation, and illustration of the History, Architecture, Antiquities, Manners, Customs, Arts, and Traditions of the historic county of York...

Eligibility

The scheme is open to applications supporting the Society’s objects, from:

  • individual researchers, whether members of the YAHS or not, and whether associated with an institution such as a museum or university or not (i.e. including independent researchers, academics and students); and
  • formally constituted external groups and societies, including local and community-based archaeological and historical societies and groups, and institutions such as museums, archive services, libraries, museums, colleges and universities.

In addition to providing grants, the Society is also open to supporting projects which will eventually recoup all or part of their costs through sales, by providing an interest-free loan.
