YAHS Prehistory Research Section provides funding supporting Mesolithic research on the North York Moors

The YAHS Prehistory Research Section is supporting research on the North York Moors, providing funds for two AMS radiocarbon dates. At Esklets on Westerdale Moor, a rare flint stratification within peat blanket offers an opportunity to precisely date Late Mesolithic occupation and flint deposition.  It is part of a wider project to reconstruct the cultural and environmental history of the Late Mesolithic Hunter-Gatherer Transitions in the North York Moors 5000-3800 BC click here for further information
